MANILA, Philippines ? A visibly tired Juan Manuel Marquez left Manila early Monday morning on a Delta Airlines flight bound for New York.
Marquez arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 past 6 in the morning for his 745 flight, with his team and coaching staff.
Marquez did not speak to the media directly, but he did say that he was feeling good at the moment.
In a separate interview with BoxingScene.com, Marquez expressed confidence that he will not have any problem making the weight for his November 12 bout against Manny Pacquiao.
“I don’t think the weight will be a problem. I’m working with people who are going to help me achieve a good weight and raise my speed and strength to win the fight,” Marquez said.
He reiterated his claim that he had won his first 2 bouts against Pacquiao.
“But that’s in the past and now we are in the present, and on the 12th of November, I’m going to leave with my arm raised,” Marquez said.
Marquez said he is putting together a great game plan and is aiming to win the bout for his fans in Mexico.
“Everyone knows I’m always well prepared for my fights, and this is no exception,” he said.
