World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific super-featherweight champion Czar Amonsot of Tagbilaran City promised another solid performance when he goes up the ring for his second US fight on May 12 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Amonsot’s fellow Boholano fighter, Along Denoy, is also raring to showcase his talent in the US as he also debuts on the same card.
Amonsot will fight Puerto Rican Jose “El Gallo” Reyes, while Denoy will take on Mexican-American Sergio Espinoza in the card that will be promoted by Guilty Boxing Promotions.
Impressive
Reyes of Puerto Rico has an impressive 18-2 fight record with eight KO wins, while Espinoza, who hails from the National City in California, packs a win-loss-draw record of 11-2-1 with four KO wins.
The two Boholanos will leave today for the US with their trainer Edmond Villamor. They will finish their training at the Las Vegas Gym together with the British trainer Tony Martin.
They will fly directly to Las Vegas and will stay with Martin, who once lived in Lilo-an, Cebu and was the former trainer of the JMP Stable owned by American Perry McNeely.
Non-ALA fighter
Denoy is the first non-ALA Gym boxer from Cebu to be given a chance to fight in the US.
“As I said months ago, Filipinos are now in demand in the US. That is why Denoy is in their card. There will be more chances for Filipino boxers to fight, not only the ALA Boys or the boxers who train at the ALA Gym,” said Gello-ani. “We opened this opportunity to all Filipino boxers.”
Aside from forging a pact with the Golden Boy Promotion Inc., Gello-ani also sealed a deal with Guilty Boxing Promotions’ Jimmy Motoya through Martin
