Juan Manuel Marquez arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport a few hours hours ago, GMA reports. He was greeted by a few media personalities and fans after he surfaced from the welcoming crowd who noticed his familiar brand of Mexican flair and was immediately ushered by a few boxing officials into the heart of Manila, Philippines.
Marquez, who never recants his statement saying he beats Pacquiao twice, is set to kick off the world press tour with Pound-for-Pound king Manny Pacquiao which is scheduled to begin in Manila at the Luneta Park this Saturday, September 3, for their trilogy on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with MP Promotions, Marquez Boxing, Tecate and MGM Grand, Pacquiao-Marquez III will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View?.
The said bout is agreed at 144-pound catchweight for the World Boxing Organization Welterweight Championship. Pacquiao is the current holder of this said title.
Marquez, who shuts the lights off Likar Ramos by his big right at 1:14 left in the first round last July 16 in Mexico, thinks he is “the better fighter than the Filipino icon”. He believes the same right hand will take down Pacquiao’s glory come this fall.
Marquez is to pay a courtesy call on Mayor Alfredo Lim where the Mexican boxer is to be feted as the city’s adopted son, GMA notes.
