Earlier today my colleague Mike Coppinger broke the news that Las Vegas-based Top Rank Promotions is looking to put on a junior middleweight clash between unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan and all-action Pawel Wolak. The fight would take place on December 3rd underneath the rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Martirosyan is infamous for calling out some of the biggest names at 154 pounds and many had been hoping to see him in the ring with rugged bruiser Alfredo Angulo, who returned to the ring following a year-plus hiatus this past Saturday in Mexico by stopping helpless Joseph Gomez in one round.
While Wolak isn?t the dream fight that the 25-year old Martirosyan has been craving, he concedes it?s a fair enough bout at this point.
?I?ve been waiting to see what?s going on,? Martirosyan stated on Thursday night. ?I think it?s a good fight for me. Pawel Wolak is tough. If they think it?s the best fight out there for me, then I?m OK with it.?
