Former IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah today announced that he has filed an official complaint with the Nevada Athletic Commission as well as petitioning both the IBF and WBA asking for a rematch with Amir Khan.
Judah’s unification bout with Khan was halted after a blow to the belt line from Khan dropped Judah in the fifth, causing him to be counted out.
Judah later claimed that the blow was low and rather puzzlingly that he thought the referee had seen the blow and was giving him a standing eight count rather than counting him out.
As far as Khan’s plans for the immediate future, a December bout with the winner of next month’s vacant WBC title bout Erik Morales vs. Lucas Matthysse looks the most likely option.
A rematch with Judah, who he was beating soundly and didn’t look to really be in the fight at any stage, is unlikely to say the least, even if ordered by one of the sanctioning bodies. Not to mention that a rematch of their one sided encounter would definitely struggle to sell very well.
