A fighter they call El Perro (dog) has not seen action in the ring for over a year due to problems with his promoter and legal issues. Many fans and friends took a drive from Southern California to Mexicali to support Alfredo Angulo?s much anticipated return to the ring. Alfredo?s new trainer Nacho Beristain thought that Perro should end this fight quickly and decisively. With most of his troubles seemingly behind Angulo did not disappoint; he destroyed overmatched Joseph Gomez within 84 seconds. A combination that started to the body and ended with a short right hand ended the night.
WBC was on hand to award hard punching Alfredo Angulo (19-1,16KO?S) a vacant WBC Continental Americas light middleweight title. Earlier WBC ordered a title eliminator between Alfredo Angulo and Glendale?s Vanes Martirosyan. The road is open for that. Trainer Ignacio Beristain said that that would be a great fight, in Mexico or in Southern California. The winner then would face WBC light middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez. Advertisement
