8CN sat down with ESPN’s Joe Tessitore and got his thoughts on this season’s epic ESPN FNF season. Joe talks about the Pawel Wolak Vs Delvin Rodriguez fight. He also breaks down Pacquiao Vs. Marquez and Mayweather Vs. Ortiz. We also discuss the NJ judge suspensions that took place after the Paul Williams Vs Erislandy Lara fight. Tessitore pulls no punches in this interview, it was an honor to talk to him.
8CN ? Thanks for joining 8CN Joe.
JT ? You’re welcome Brad
8CN ? I haven’t talked to you since the classic FNF between Wolak and Rodriguez. Talk about that fight.
JT ? The further away I get from the fight, the more it really cements in my mind as one of the truly special fights I have ever seen let alone broadcast. There was something about the two fighters and how they engaged and gave what they had to give. Having said that I think Rodriguez probably won by about a round. There was just something about how Wolak conducted himself that night, and the interaction in the corner withreferee Steve Smoger, and one of the more extreme injuries that I have seen in the ring made that fight special. I think it was the fight of the year by the way.
8CN ? Do you think there will be a rematch of will both guys move forward?
JT ? I think both guys need to make money. A rematch is fine as long the sport rewards those two guys. This would be a perfect fight to be a co feature on a major PPV fight. Our PPV’s in this sport have been pathetic and they are greatly damaging the sport. If you ever had what we had on FNF’s on a PPV, I think people would feel good about their purchase.
8CN ? Isn’t ironic how people have to pay 60 bucks for a PPV and on ESPN they get epic fights like Rodriguez Vs. Wolak for free?
