Former six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya is rumored to be considering a return to the ring at the age of 38 according to numerous industry insiders.
De La Hoya last fought in December of 2008, ending his career on his stool against Manny Pacquiao after his corner stopped the fight at the end of the eighth round.
Following the one sided fight he announced his retirement and immediately threw himself into working on his promotional company Golden Boy, stating at the time that he would not be returning to the ring.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. however, along with many others, think otherwise. Mayweather Sr. told Percy Crawford in recent interview with FightHype that he believes De La Hoya will fight again in the near future, perhaps mainly due to the way he lost his last fight.
Undeniably, De La Hoya would still be a major draw if he fought again today. Against top opponents today though he would only be risking more losses, and doesn’t need the money.
