HIS bag is packed and ready to go. Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will again embark on a huge task of attaining a feat no other Filipino athlete has ever achieved, and that is to seal a $1-million one-fight deal.
Pacquiao, along with business manager Rod Nazario will leave for New York via San Francisco tonight on board Philippine Airline flight PR 114.
They will then meet with executives of cable TV giant HBO to finalize a May 22 fight, possibly against WBA/IBF Featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.
The duo will be joined by their American promoter Murad Muhammad in finalizing a deal with Kerry Davis, the president of programming at HBO Sports.
But Marquez hinted that all is not yet sealed regarding his fight versus Pacquiao.
Marquez said he might as well face IBF #6 Featherweight contender William Abelyan of Armenia should the Mexican get the shallow end of the gravy train in their scheduled negotiations with Team Pacquiao.
The 30-year-old Marquez (42-2, 33 KO?s) believes that a fight against Pacquiao will definitely generate revenues worth millions of dollars and that he wants to have a reasonable share of the income.
