MANILA, Philippines ? Owing to the mad rush for tickets to the Nov. 12 rubber match between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, on-line sellers have decided to jack up prices up to almost seven times its original value.
Last Friday, Top Rank officially opened shop for tickets priced at $1,200, $900, $600, $400 and $200 and only 2,000 tickets were left after the first day of selling, signaling that sellout should be forthcoming.
The premium ringside seat pegged at $1,200 are being dangled on-line at $8,000 (roughly P344,000), while the lower-priced $200 pass can fetch up to $473 (roughly P20,000).
The MGM Grand is the venue of the much-awaited world welterweight title fight and, of course, not all 16,000 seats will be offered for selling since the MGM are getting their share for distribution to their high-roller and VIP clients and Top Rank as well has its own allocation.
Pacquiao is guaranteed a hefty $20 million plus a generous share in the pay-per-view and gate revenues. Marquez gets $5 million and also a similar cut in pay-per-view and ticket sales.
