Manila, Philippines – Tickets to Manny Pacquiao?s third clash with Juan Manuel Marquez in November were nearly sold out when the ticket booths opened yesterday.
It was reported that only 2,000 of the more than 16,000 seats at the MGM Grand remain available to the public with still 112 days to the fight.
Almost simultaneously, however, tickets to the WBO welterweight showdown scheduled Nov. 12 were being peddled and sold on the Internet.
Yes, for a stiffer price.
Tickets have a face value of $1,200, $900, $600, $400 and $200. Sales are limited to 10 tickets per person except for the $200s at only two per person.
No wonder the more expensive ones are already out on the Internet. As of yesterday, there?s a handful being sold from $5,000 to $8,000 (P344,000).
In one of the many online ticket stations, the cheapest ones are being pegged at $445.
There?s no law that prohibits the selling of these tickets at a higher price for as long as the demand is there.
Tickets to Pacquiao fights have always been sold out the last couple of years, and the demand for each fight only gets greater.
Tickets to the Oscar dela Hoya fight in 2008 were the priciest so far with ringside seats worth $1,500 and as much as $10,000 on the black market.
For Pacquiao?s last fight, the one against Shane Mosley last May, tickets were sold out in the first three hours of the first day of sales.
