The upcoming Zab Judah/Amir Khan is very intriguing. Zab is coming off at a +350 underdog, Khan is a -500 favorite. I personally think the odds are too high. I may take a prop bet but I wouldn’t bet either of those odds. But I will break the fight down and hopefully you guys will be able to make a good decision.
I go back n forth over this fight. Amir Khan is very tall for his weight, but that is not always a good thing. Sometimes you make for a BIGGER target if you have bad habits. Look close guys. Khan has a habit of running in, moving his arms but not moving his feet in sync with his arms. A sharpshooter can simply take a step back and walk him into a money shot. He does this constantly. Zab Judah is no McCloskey.
Amir Khan is a go getter. They say he has a weak chin, but yet he takes on big punchers in Judah and Maidana, we have to give him credit for that. Khan also is very fast, faster than Judah for extended exchanges. Zab is fast with pop shots. Khan has superior conditioning in the match up. I expect him to be the busier more consistent fighter in this match up.
Zab Judah is fighting more cerebral these days. He is employing Pernll Whitaker’s style of fighting for some late career success. But Judah does not have the reflexes and IQ, Whitaker and Mayweather have to employ that style to it’s full benefits. Those guys can get away with low activity rates. Zab gets outworked too much recently in my opinion. He almost fights as if he is trying not to get tired.
Look at the Matthysse and Mabuza fights. Everybody is just looking at the results but I am looking at the actual fights. Zab was getting walked down in both fights.
I think Zab is an all time sharpshooter. He hits everybody clean. I want to pick him, but it’s hard for me to pick the guy that has to land his sunday punch. The odds for Zab are tempting, but I can’t pull the trigger. I don’t think Zab can outbox Khan. Khan is too tall, rangey and active. Khan will have some shakey moments but I expect him to outwork Zab and win a decision. Everybody expects a ko, but I just have a hunch that it will go the distance. Khan has not been putting people in the trunk at 140 and I expect him to box carefully but agressivley. Roach will not let him be overly agressive this fight.
