Juan Manuel Marquez thrills in Cancun; ices Ramos in one to secure Pacquiao bout

Moments ago inside of the Plaza De Toros in Cancun, Mexico, WBA and WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez shockingly made short work of Likar Ramos, icing the Columbian in under one round after catching him with a flush right hand. With the victory Marquez has now set up a November 12th date against Manny Pacquiao, set to take place inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Some speculated that perhaps it was a bad move for Marquez to take such a risky fight, as a loss would have surely erased any chance of the Pacquiao fight coming off, but the Mexico City fighter was sure to let nothing come to chance. The right hand that iced Ramos had the 25-year old out for a few minutes before ringside physicians could revive him.

The performance surely adds intrigue to a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, whom Marquez fought to a majority draw to in May of 2004 and dropped a split decision to in March of 2008. The Marquez-Pacquiao pay-per-view will no push forward and fans can look forward to an extravagant pre-fight build, which will begin with a worldwide tour promoting the contest in late August.
