I just read that Hatton has agreed to face Collazo. With your experiences and knowledge of welterweight – how do you see it going? It seems like a dangerous fight for the Hitman.

I think this fight will be a big test for Hatton, but it is going to be a bigger test for Collazo. I feel that Collazo has the ability to beat a fighter like Hatton who comes right in to tear you apart. Collazo has a field day with fighters like that, but it will be interesting to see if he can hold up to Hatton’s relentless pressure. I can’t wait to see it.

Right now I have to give the nod to Floyd Mayweather, JR. He is a remarkable fighter with unlimited skills in the ring and still is fairly young.

If HBO is covering a certain fight, what money are they offering – a guranteed boxers’ purse? venue rental? Does this mean, the promoter will be heavily unburdened of monetary concerns related to the fight…is HBO really able to recoup its investment thru advertisements alone for non-ppv fights? thanks for sharing the ins and outs of boxing. I am not a promoter, but I do know that when HBO or Showtime covers a fight the promoter gets a certain amount of money from the network. From the money the promoter receives from the networks, that is how they pay the fighters and put the card together. Sometimes the money is enough and if it is not the promoter has to go into his own pockets to pay for the rest of the show. Even though it is rare to see promoters go into their own pockets when HBO or Showtime is covering the fights, especially if the fighter belongs to that network. Then the network pays for the fight. Promoters rake in all of the advertisement money and the gate without having to dig into their own pockets and yes that puts fewer burdens on the promoters financially. You do not have to worry about the networks like HBO and Showtime because they make a ton of money from the million of subscribers that love to watch boxing, like me.

If I am not mistaken the fight is scheduled for this coming June 25th. As far as what division these two are fighting at I honestly do not know. I am going to assume that Larios is not going to defend his title at 122 against Manny and he is going to just jump up to fight him at the 130 weight class. That way if Larios loses he is still the champ in his weight class. Besides it looks like Manny is already scheduled to fight Erik Morales on September 16th and I am sure Manny is not going to struggle to fight at 122 lbs when he has such a serious fight scheduled right after. I guess we will have to wait and see on this one.

My elbow is coming along just great. I am not sure I understand your question on have I changed my approach at all? In what fashion do you mean? I will tell you that I am feeling better than ever in training and preparing for my fight on May 6, 2006 against WBA Junior Middleweight Champion Alex Garcia. Make sure to tune into Showtime that night for what is going to be great fight.
