HOT POTATO via HOLLYWOOD, California – Recent statements of Top Rank Godfather Robert “Bob” Arum just before he left Monday to Europe for a family vacation about Nonito Donaire, Jr.’s case on a possible return to Top Rank are clear and one of brevity, implying that it’s up to Donaire, Jr. to make a move.
“The ball is on Nonito Donaire, Jr.’ court,” says Arum in an exclusive interview with this writer. “He is a great fighter and we are happy to make him bigger with us.”
Arum refuses to explore more about the specifics but assured that “the public should have some good news anytime”.
“We are happy to promote him,” Arum adds.
Donaire turned his back on Top Rank and jumped into the arms of Golden Boy Promotions, to promote his future fights, after knocking former Bantamweight Champion Fernando Montiel out in round 2 last February.
