MANILA, Philippines – Sarangani congressman and 8-division boxing champ Manny Pacquiao publicly defended 7 Catholic bishops accused of receiving huge donations and vehicles from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) during the Arroyo administration.
Pacquiao, who is also a PCSO endorser, said he sees nothing wrong with Catholic bishops receiving service vehicles for their dioceses.
“Nagagamit din nila yan kapag nagabyahe sila. Para sa akin walang problema yun,” the congressman said.
Pacquiao, ranked the world’s 2nd highest paid non-US athlete by Sports Illustrated, recently received 7 ambulances from the PCSO as “payment” for appearing in a PCSO ad.
The world boxing champ has sided with the Catholic Church on other issues including a campaign to stop the passage of the Reproductive Health bill.
