Moments ago inside of the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, lightweight prospect/contender Mercito ?No Mercy? Gesta made easy work of Mexican journeyman Jorge Pimentel, dropping the Sonora fighter once each in rounds one, two, and three on his way towards a 3rd round stoppage. Gesta was in complete control, remaining calm and picking deadly shots from his southpaw stance that had Pimentel reeling.
The victory marks Gesta?s first fight under Las Vegas-based Top Rank Promotions, as the 23-year old sees his record rise to 22-0-1 with 12 knockouts. What remains to be seen is when exactly the right moment will come for Gesta to step up the level of competition he has been facing, as Pimentel was little more than a paid sparring inside of the ring tonight.

We were fortunate to spend some time with Gesta this weekend before and after Friday?s weigh-in and he and his team are great people. He certainly is one to root for and it?s going to be a fun ride watching Gesta evolve as a fighter.
