MANILA, Philippines ? After having starred in a number of sold-out fights, several ads, talk shows and the like, it seems that the fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao’s star now shines bright in rap songs, as he proves to be an inspiration even to rappers abroad.
This is evident in the song, ?Lighters,? by rap duo Bad Meets Evil. The duo is composed of Detroit rapper Ryan Montgomery (also known as Royce da 5′ 9) and Eminem, who performs the song with Grammy award winning singer Bruno Mars.
In it, Royce likened his strength?in terms of facing life?s challenges, that is?to that of the pound-for-pound king.

?Lighters? is included in the album ?Hell: The Sequel.” According to MTV?s website, the single was released on July 5, but was leaked over the Internet as early as the first week of June.
Also joining the list of rappers giving a shout-out to Pacquaio are Pill and Rick Ross (Tyrone Rivers and William Leonard Roberts II, respectively), who have even gone on to call their song “Pacman.”
Part of the song’s lyrics goes:
?Pacman ? Over one hundred sold
Pacman ? just ordered one hundred more
Pacman ? you can fry it in a pan
Pacman ? in no time you will be buying land
Pacman ? do it for your mom and them
Pacman ? until I get one hundred in.?
?Pacman? is part of Pill?s album ?Self Made Vol. 1,? which was rleased last May.
Ross, on the other hand, is a self-avowed fan of the boxing champ. He had been part of Nike’s “Boom” campaign in 2010, which also featured Pacquaio.
Meanwhile, rap mogul Shawn Corey Carter?better known to the world as Jay-Z, and husband to Beyonce?also mentioned Pacquiao in his song ?Thank You? a few years back.
A track off the rapper?s eleventh studio album title ?The Blueprint 3,? which was released in September 8, 2009, ?Thank You? included the line, ?On the tube I’m just watchin’ Pacquiao box ’em up.
However, if the aforementioned rappers have nothing but praises for the boxing superstar, ?In Da Club? rapper 50 Cent has nothing but criticism for Pacquiao.
In a series of tweets last March 5, 50 Cent accused Pacquiao of allegedly using steroids, a type of performance-enhancing drugs (PED), during his fights.
He also blatantly expressed his bias for his friend, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who remains the most fan-requested future opponent of Pacquiao.
