If it’s true that Floyd Mayweather Jr said that he “congratulates Manny for fighting his leftovers” perhaps the main course is a chicken that can’t be caught. This entire saga is getting pretty old and to be honest, it makes boxing look comical. The UFC doesn’t have these idiotic games where one guy does everything within his power to NOT fight someone.
Pacquiao hasn’t fought Mayweather’s leftovers, he’s fought people that were willing to step into the ring with him because someone else wouldn’t. At this point in the game, most of the fans are just sick to death with the games. Random blood testing, he’s on steroids, he’s this, he’s that, blah blah blah.
When I spoke to Patrick Turner of the Mississippi Athletic Commission about Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao, he said something that makes a lot of sense, “Mayweather has been blessed with a lot of money and fame because of boxing. Boxing has given him a good life, so he owes it to the fans to give back and fight Pacquiao.”
I personally wish that Pacquiao would just take the darn blood testing exactly how Mayweather wants it done, just so that he can have his (Mayweather’s) last remaining card yanked out of his hand. Or is it his last card? Let’s say Pacquiao did agree to the random testing up until the day of the fight. Would Floyd then price himself out of the fight by demanding some ridiculous 100 million dollars? Who knows at this point? Advertisement
Floyd says Pacquiao’s victories are his left leftovers. Well how about giving the fans the main course and signing on the dotted line Floyd? It would be your opportunity to prove once and for all that you are the pound for pound king. You could ride off into the sunset with that undefeated record that you so desperately want.
Nobody is denying that Floyd is a great fighter. I give Floyd his props for fighting Victor Ortiz next. I wish of course that his next fight would be against Manny, but it’s not. Ortiz is definitely no pushover and he’s young and strong. Floyd didn’t pick a pushover this time. With that said, with each fight that passes and we still don’t see Manny Vs. Floyd, the clock ticks on.
Manny has been in some battles, especially in the early part of his career. He’s fought at the elite level of boxing for years now. How long can he keep at the top of his game? Pacquiao is amazing, but he is only human after all. Father time will grab him one day as well. Hopefully Father time will be patient enough and spare both fighters in time for them to fight each other.
