It?s back to the drawing board for Mighty Mark Melligen. Tonight before a national audience on ESPN Friday Night Fight front San Antonio, Texas, Melligen failed his biggest test as a boxer. Matched against a cunning veteran who took the fight on eight days notice, Melligen run out of gas midway through the fight.
Sebastian Lujan of Argentina ( 38-5-2, 24 KO0 decked Melligen on the 6th, 7th and 8th round and finally for good in round 9th. Time: 0:45 seconds.
Melligen (21-3-0, 14KO) started very strong, winning the first three rounds with his strong combinations.
But even early on, in spite of winning the early rounds, it seemed apparent that he will be in for a long night. Lujan was like the evening tide. He just kept on coming in spite of being on the receiving end of many hard punches that Melligen threw at him. Nothing deterred him. He was like a run-away truck with no reverse gear.
Lujan often clowned his way around effectively changing the game plan of Melligen.
Then he would follow his clowning with a series of combinations that seemingly affected Melligen.
In the end, Melligen was counted out on his back and the veteran Argentine fighter got his hands raised in victory.
