Finkel to meet Pacman in Manila!

A reliable source revealed to Fightnews that fight manager Shelly Finkel will arrive in Manila, Philippines this weekend to meet Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.

According to the source, Finkel will discuss the fight contract of Pacmans upcoming bout versus former WBC superbantamweight champion Oscar Chololo Larios.

The 27-year-old southpaw Pacquiao will duke it out with Larios in a 10-round non-title fight tentatively set at the historic Araneta Coliseum.

Television firm ABS-CBN will bankroll the boxing card, reportedly at a staggering US$4-million.

International promoter Rex Wakee Salud will impart his promotional expertise with the network.

June 25 or July 2 are the dates that are seriously being considered by the prime movers of the promotion that will also feature several world-ranked Filipino fighters against topnotch Latino warriors.

Over the weekend, Larios promotional outfit Golden Boy Promotions stated their fervent desire to come to the Philippines and battle Pacquiao in what they consider as the biggest break of the Mexicans 12-year career.

Golden Boy Promotions VP and matchmaker Eric Gomez made the confirmation during his visit to Cebu last weekend where their outfit signed upcoming fighters Rey Boom Boom Bautista and Z Gorres to promotional deals.

Perhaps heartened by the successful visit of Gomez and matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz, Finkel will visit the country for the first time.

Pacquiao, who is coming off a sensational 10th round TKO win over Mexican rival Erik Morales last January in Las Vegas, has a record of 41-3-2, with 33 KOs.

The 29-year-old Larios meanwhile will parade an equally impressive record of 56-4-1 with 36 KOs
