Soon to return former five weight world champion Floyd Mayweather is once again facing a civil suit after being accused of having his bodyguards attack a fan at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
The incident, which allegedly took place in March of last year, came about when a fan, previously told not to take any pictures of Mayweather, later asked him a question about a potential fight, which for some reason he took offense to.
Just what exactly he asked Mayweather was not reported, although it seems likely that it might have related to a certain Filipino who Floyd isn’t too keen on answering questions about.
After being asked the question, Mayweather then made a thumbs down gesture to his ever present coterie of bodyguards who Anthony Cliff claims then attacked him, beating him to the ground and kicking him several times before they along with Mayweather fled the scene.
Cliff is seeking more than ten thousand dollars in damages, and names the Palms resort as a co-defendant claiming negligence on their part.
Mayweather, who begins a media tour ahead of his bout with Ortiz this week, is accused of assault and battery, infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention of employees.
This fresh incident is just the latest in an ever growing list of legal problems for Mayweather, who recently skipped a court appearance relating to the defamation suit filed against him by fellow fighter Manny Pacquiao.
