People’s champ Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao on Monday confirmed that his next bout will be against two-time world champion Oscar Larios in July, TV Patrol World reported.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo, Pacquiao said Larios’ camp already signed a contract for the bout, which will be held in the Philippines. It is also the first time that Pacqiuao will promote his own fight.
Pacquiao admitted that Larios is not an easy opponent, noting that the Mexican was a two-time super bantamweight world champion.
“Sabi nga nila nagkamali ako sa pagpili ng kalaban pero… kaya ‘yan (They said I chose the wrong opponent to fight but I can handle it),” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao will start his training in the United States in May.
After the fight, Pacquiao said he wants to fight Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera. Pacquiao gained prominence in the world boxing arena after knocking down Barrera in their last fight.
