The Hershey Center, located in Mississauga Ontario, is quickly becoming the mecca for Boxing in the Toronto area. They have hosted boxing events over the last several years and recently broke ground into the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) market holding its first event only weeks ago. Tomorrow night, Friday June 24th, 2011 under the direction of United Boxing promotions, The Hershey Center brings out another faced paced event.
This episode of United Boxing Promotion?s Fight Series headlines the super talented and undefeated Logan Cotton (McGuinness) 14-0-1, 7 KO. Cotton remains undefeated at The Hershey Center and his last victory was over veteran Hector Julio Avila who boasted a large 47 wins with only 5 losses. The man attempting to take the NABA title from Cotton will be Mexican Uriel Barrera (19-5, 10 KO). Barrera is coming off of a loss, but remains dangerous with his kayo power. Should Cotton pass this test he will be set high in his weight division and the possibilities of seeing his career produce a major world title shot will be imminent.
New prospect Jeremy ?Showtime? Abbot (2-1) will be facing the dangerous Ryan Wagner (2-1, 1 KO). Both fighters share the same record, however, Wagner is coming off of a loss and has a knockout credited to his resume whereas Abbot is coming off of a win with no kayo?s to claim yet. Wagner is from Cotton?s hometown of Orangeville and has been held in high regard because of the tremendous right uppercut he employs. Abbot is a body technician and although has no knockouts, has decisively won his fights by breaking down his opponents in the continuance of rounds as the fight develops. Abbot explains to this journalist that ?my passion for this sport is what has prepared me. Some have placed me as the underdog, but I?m more than ready for Wagner. I?m not one to make predictions, but I?ve trained hard and I will pass him.?
Southpaw Horace Hunter (1-3) comes down in weight to face Phil ?The Assassin? Rose (2-1, 2 KO). Two of the opponents that beat Hunter previously have lost to the hands of Rose. Hunter remains focused and contends that ?Rose is not ready for a fighter like me. If he slips once it will be over, and believe me, he will slip. He has never fought a stronger counter-puncher?. When asked where he attributes this confidence to he responded that ?I?ve been training with The Grant Brothers for a little bit now and I?m confident in my training. I have excellent sparring partners and my trainer RG has gotten me ready for this fight.? The humble pugilist seemed more than confident and composed for a fighter only days away from his bout.
Also slated for the card is a match between two undefeated lightweight fighters. Canadian Ibrahim Kamal (2-0, 2 KO) will be fighting Hungarian Istvan Kiss (4-0, 2 KO). The fight promises excitement because one fighter will be leaving with their first blemish to their record. The Kayo percentage suggests that this fight may not go into the judge?s decision.
Other undercard fights have Brandon ?Bad Boy? Cook (1-0) to face Laszlo Haaz (4-3). The featherweight division will have Canadian Tyler Asselstine (5- 0, 4 KO) versus France?s Leonus Marie Francoise (8-4, 2 KO). Both fights have these young professionals attempting to increase their boxing value and place them in better contention for a ranking that will earn them a larger pay scale and increased rounds. All undercard bouts are scheduled for four rounds.
