Canelo Alvarez- This past Saturday night, I was expecting for Ryan Rhodes to give Canelo all that he could handle. Boy was I ever so wrong. It turned out that it was Canelo who was way too much for Rhodes to handle. I must admit that Canelo exceeded my expectations, the way Canelo placed his combinations together, his feints, and his heavy hook were all very impressive. During the telecast, Roy Jones Jr. kept mentioning over and over that Canelo has one punch knockout power, I disagree with that. Canelo has some power but not one punch knockout power. What Canelo does have is heavy hands. Here is some food for thought, if Canelo did have one punch knockout power, then don?t you think that Rhodes would have been knocked out cold? I mean, come on now, Canelo landed over 400 punches on Rhodes. Power or no power, I am excited to see what comes next for Canelo, he?s got my attention.
Cotto vs. Margarito 2- As of right now, this much anticipated rematch is set to go down in early December. So who shall take it this time? It?s hard to pick one over the other, Cotto is a little bit past his prime these days but then again so is Margarito. I feel that Cotto is a better all around fighter, but the swarming pressure that Margarito applies is straight up torture. It?s going to be a bloodbath.
Klitschko vs. Haye- I really, really, really hope that these two put on a very good fight when they face off about 3 weeks from now. A great fight would be greater than great, but the style and hate that this fighters have for one another will more than likely find one of these fighters knocked out inside 7 rounds. I will be pulling for Haye to win, the style belonging to Haye and that bright smile of his is the kind of look that the heavyweight landscape desperately needs. A Haye victory will be a very bright vision indeed, speaking of bright, it says here that Klitschko is way too bright to fall into any traps. The trap door may be ready and set, but it?s ill informed.
The return of Kid Chocolate- Judah vs. Khan is going to be electric, but the undercard will be just as electric. Peter ?Kid Chocolate? Quillin vs. the veteran yet very dangerous Tarvis Simms is going to be quite the sight. Simms is a very tricky fighter who loves to play the role of underdog, but Kid Chocolate feels it?s his time so something has got to give.
Robert Guerrero vs. Marcos Maidana- This right here is going to be smashface boxing at its very finest. Fight of the year candidate right here. August 27th in San Jose.
