Boxing fans will be treated to a slam-bang opening of the spanking, new Wild Card Gym in Manila on February 15, with “People’s Featherweight Champion” Manny Pacquiao top-billing a galaxy of potential world-beaters in a sparring session at the inauguration.
Top-of-the-line equipment brought in by Pacquiao, his business manager Rod Nazario, cornerman Lito Mondejar and handlers Moy Lainez and Gerry Garcia highlight the new facility located along President’s Avenue in the sprawling upper middle-class BF Homes Village in the suburb of Paranaque, a couple of kilometers from the Gabriel “Flash” Elorde Sports Center built by the late world junior lightweight champion.
Besides a complete facility for boxing including housing for a few boxers, the Wild Card Gym also has other facilities for physical fitness buffs and is expected to be a center of attraction because of the association of Pacquiao with the gym.
