FERNANDO MONTIEL RISKING HIS HEALTH

MEXICAN FIGHTER COMING BACK WAY TOO SOON!

San Francisco, CA- Having watched two fighters die right in front of me, I take this topic, ?the safety of the boxer? quite seriously. On February 19, 2011, Fernando Montiel, having been a champion at 115 & 118 lbs., was knocked out with one-punch by Nonito Donaire in a WBA sanctioned title fight. On June 25th, or 126 days after Donaire sent him into a state of convulsions, Montiel (44-3-2, 34 KOs) will fight in his native Mexico against Nehomar Cermeno (20-3, 12 KOs)

BELOW IS THE VIDEO THAT IS BEYOND FRIGHTENING

Before you watch the video of the second round knockout, let me tell you that after you get separated from your senses in a neurological manner as did Montiel, watch him convulse on the canvas before referee Russell Mora allowed Montiel to get back up and take a few more shots before Mora stopped the fight. One MD I?ve talked to thinks that should be three to six months after a KO like this before a fighter is allowed to engage in ?contact? training after being hit like Montiel was. According to a popular boxing website, Montiel will have had a seven week training camp.

DO THE NUMBERS & WATCH THE VIDEO

OK, take 49 from 131 and that means Montiel began training 82 days after almost being, in my opinion, almost killed. Watch the video and tell me what you think? I mean, do you think Montiel should have been in training less than three months after watching the following video?
