Former 4 time heavyweight champion of the world Evander Holyfield is a BIG Pacquiao supporter. I have spoken with Evander many times over the years, and he’s been a frequent guest on my Podcast show over on 8CountNews.com. 8CN based out of Mississippi has followed Holyfield’s career closely. I have spoken with the man enough times to know that when he says something, he means it.
We spoke about many topics and of course one being, Manny Pacquiao. When I asked Evander if he thought Pacquiao was one of the greatest of all time, he quickly said, “He is, and for a smaller guy to come all the way up in weight and beat bigger guys up to 154lbs, it says a lot.”
Holyfield also commended Pacquiao’s personality, “He is a great ambassador for the sport of boxing. The way in which he carries himself, and how he treats his fans is what separates him from the rest.” Advertisement
Holyfield warns Marquez that he better be ready once the bell rings, ” If you fight Manny Pacquiao, you better be ready. If you ain’t ready, you are in trouble because when that bell rings, he is coming. He is coming and he is going to throw a lot of punches at you.”
Holyfield throughout his hall of fame career has entered the ring in very good shape. He’s worked hard in the gym for many years, and this is one reason he respects Pacquiao so much. Holyfield admires how hard Pacquiao trains in the gym, ” He works hard in the gym and that is what pays dividends in the ring. He gets in the ring and he takes care of business.”
Holyfield will go down as one of the greatest of all time. When one of the greatest of all time says another is one of the greatest of all time, that means something.
