If Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez won?t come after Alfredo Angulo, then ?El Perro? is willing to come to him.
With only a few days of training in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, Alfredo Angulo (19-1, 16 KOs) hopes to find himself face to face with the WBC junior middleweight titleholder on Saturday to ask for a fight.
Alvarez is scheduled to make the first defense of his title against Ryan Rhodes.
Angulo is training at Champs Gym to workout alongside Abner Mares who is currently preparing for his IBF bantamweight title shot against Joseph Agbeko; both fighters train under Clemente Medina.
?We?re preparing ourselves to return to the ring, supposedly on August 20 in Mexicali against a WBC-ranked contender,? said Angulo. ?But Saturday I?m expecting to be at Canelo?s fight to see what the possibilities are of making that fight.?
Though Angulo is ranked #2 by the WBC, with Vanes Martirosyan now being ranked at #1, Angulo doesn?t see that as a problem with making a fight with Alvarez.
