Bautista defeats Ruiz

Former world rated featherweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista (31-2, 23 KOs) of the Philippines scored the best win of his career when he won a seventh round technical decision over his former conqueror Heriberto Ruiz (46-11-2, 28 KOs) of Mexico at the world class venue at the Waterfront Casino & Hotel in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines on Saturday. Bautista and Ruiz exchanged bombs from the opening bell that seen both boxers on unsteady legs throughout the action packed contest that was scheduled for twelve rounds with IBF international 126 pounds title up for grabs.

Bautista suffered a cut over the left eye in round three and referee Danrex Tapdasan had the doctor inspect but ruled okay to continue..Bautista was hit low also in round five and Ruiz was warned for this infringement.

In round seven the right eye of Bautista was cut that had blood streaming down the Filipino?s face and the referee ruled it was due to accidental head clash. The doctor ruled the cut to severe to continue and it went to the scorecards and all IBF officials had Bautista leading on the cards 68-65, 69-65, 68-65. Time of stoppage 0.56.

Ruiz had scored a 2008 points win over Bautista? Ruiz also defeated former IBF world featherweight champion Cristobel Cruz but lost a split decision to Steve Molitor and a KO loss in three rounds of a world bantamweight title attempt to Raul Marquez.

On undercard bouts, flyweight Edrin Dapudong (22-3, 13 KOs) stopped Benja Loemoli (11-2, 7 KOs) of Indonesia at 0.20 of round four.

Hard punching Light welterweight Jason Pagara (27-1, 16 KOs) had problems finding the range against Mexican Juan Carlos Gallegos (16-5, 10 KOs) in the early rounds but finally did in round four and dropped the visitor for the full ten count compliments of soild right hand shot to the head.

Super banatmweight Genesiis Servania (11-0, 4 KOs) scored a second round knockout over Richard Donaire (5-6-1, 2 KOs). Donaire is a cousin to superstar Nonito Donaire.
