Juan Manuel Marquez spent several weeks trying to wrangle David Diaz into a Summer tune-up before his November rematch with Manny Pacquiao, but has had to settle with Colombia’s Likar Ramos
With Diaz pricing himself out a the bout, Marquez selected on Ramos for his southpaw stance – a trait he shares with fellow lefty Pacquiao

“We wanted a left handed fighter and we found one,” said Marquez. “The most important thing is I am maintaining active for November.”
Marquez has already begun training at La Romanza Gym in Mexico City under the watchful eye of long-time trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain. Along with his normal training routine, Marquez has added ballet to his training tactics and included a doctor to help him add weight for the 144 pound fight with Pacquiao. Advertisement
There is no word on what weight limit Marquez, the lightweight champion, will face Ramos at on July 16 in Cancun, Mexico. Marquez tried to bring the fight to his home town of Mexico City, but those plans fell through.
Ramos has held interim world titles in the past and has a record of 24 wins, 3 losses, and 18 victories by K.O.
