With news of a truce being finalized between rival boxing promoters Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, many boxing fans are rejoicing with the possibility of a super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Junior finally taking place.
Sorry to burst the bubble of excitement, but let me remind you that, one – Mayweather Junior is not the exclusive property of Golden Boy Promotions, and two – Mayweather seems to be a retired fighter.

That being said the two promotional firms could work in unison to create a fight of potential global magnitude in the near future between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan. Advertisement
Though Khan is not a super star in the world of boxing, his stock is rising quickly. He has erased memories of a knock-out defeat against Breidis Prescott by winning seven fights in a row, including a gutsy 12 round decision against tough-guy Marcos Maidana last year.
With a few more fights and exposure on American boxing broadcast giant HBO, a Khan – Pacquiao could be a moving affair.
The young lion Khan, against the veteran Pacquiao would not be the only story line going into the bout. Freddie Roach, who trains both men at the this point would have to make a tough decision – abandon the established Pacquiao, or the rising Khan?
It could prove to be good story outside of the ring, and good action inside of the ring.
