Michael Katsidis will decide over the next few days whether to re-live his epic first contest with Englishman Graham Earl.
Katsidis stopped Earl in a five-round war in London, widely regarded as the best fight of 2007, during which both boxers were floored.
That was the first of ten successive fights overseas for two-time former WBO interim lightweight world champion Katsidis, who is determined to have his next bout in Australia,
Earl, who hasn’t fought for almost two years, has called for a rematch.
He even spruiked his challenge to Katsidis through the media in the Queenslander’s home town of Toowoomba.
The 32-year-old Briton has indicated he is prepared seek revenge in Australia.
Katsidis’s trainer and manager Brendon Smith said a rematch of the memorable Wembley Arena clash could be a great fight.
“We’ll make a decision in the next couple of days on this particular fight,” Smith told AAP.
“Basically (it’s) weighing up the best fight that makes the most sense for Michael.
“We turned down Las Vegas for his next one, because it’s time to do one here.”
Smith said he would be holding talks with officials of Toowoomba’s Clive Berghofer Stadium but he was also looking at Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Katsidis lost a unanimous points decision to American Robert Guerrero in a interim lightweight world title fight in Las Vegas last month.
