Boxing is so dead in Las Vegas that its not even funny. If anyone is singing about Boxing in Vegas, then it must only be the fat lady… and she’s singing because its over! Why does she sing? Perhaps because Boxing scribes choose only to cover stories on Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao. The result is that no other names are getting any serious media attention and its showing up in the way people lay down bets on combat sports. Plus lets face it, Boxing promoters are doing nothing to help the sport by putting on lousy Pay-per-views… like the Pacquiao-Mosley stinker!
These days bettors are forgoing Boxing and opting to wager on UFC. Mike Colbert, who represents Cantor Gaming as the director was recently quoted in the Las Vegas Sun, stating: “The action has gone up like you wouldn?t believe in UFC. On these Saturdays when we have these UFC cards, we do massive handles.?
And before anyone tries to call him bias and having a hate-on for boxing, Colbert states: “You’re talking to an absolute boxing guy here, and I will be the first to admit that UFC is more popular betting-wise.”
