Before his third fight against the ?Astro Filipino? Manny Pacquiao, it is necessary warming up, and therefore, the linear lightweight king, Juan Manuel Marquez, seeks a ?Tune Up? on July 16th, in Mexico City, against an undetermined opponent.
David Diaz was mentioned as a rival for this preparing fight, but so far, an agreement has not been reached with the Mexican-American boxer, due to the amount of money he hopes to win.
?We would love David Diaz as opponent because of his left-handed guard. He is a fighter who goes forward, he is a demanding fighter. Once that David Diaz wants to fight, there we go.? remarked Juan Manuel Marquez to the journalist Miguel Angel Cebreros.
Top Rank has given motion to the David Diaz? career for several years, but the older of the Marquez says that the company will not be implicated in the promoting July bout, as he himself will be setting up the fight. ?Top Rank has nothing to do. I?m the one who will make that fight. My Marquez Company will make that fight. Top Rank has nothing to do and my people is working on it, they are specifying the economic terms, which is what he [David Diaz] wants?, Marquez said.
Many people have manifested their concerns that this event takes place before the November 12th rematch against Pacquiao, on account of the risk that an injury, cut or a surprise happen. But Juan Manuel is sure he is making the right decision. Remember he has not fought since November 2010, when he technically knocked out to the Australian Michael Katsidis.
?I believe that inaction damages the athletes, and we do not want that. I want to remain active to be OK on November 12th?, said Marquez.
