The Wizard of the Wild Card Gym, boxing’s most recognizable trainer Freddie Roach firmly believes that the scheduled November 12 bout between his star pupil Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will be much more entertaining, and dangerous than Pacquiao’s recent cake walk with Shane Mosley.
Mosley has been widely criticized for his poor display during a May clash with Manny Pacquiao due to his inability, or unwillingness to push the fight and take the necessary risks for victory.
Roach thinks Marquez is a bigger man than Mosley.
“Mosley was a let down, but I know it won’t be that wat with Marquez,” said Roach from the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood. “He [Marquez] has big [explicit].” Advertisement
Marquez has fought Pacquiao to a draw and a split decision in previous encounters, but the Mexican has a never say die attitude after being knocked down three times in his first round with Pacquiao only to rally and earn the draw. For three long years, while Pacquiao has rised in weight and stardom, Marquez has campaigned for the fight.
“He thinks he won the first two times and that he was robbed,” said Roach. “He is coming looking for revenge and has a good trainer (Ignacio “Nacho”Beristain) and they have a good relationship.”
Will and courage aside, Marquez has an uphill battle against Pacquiao.
