Mississippi and Alabama are two states very far away from California, and Tijuana Mexico. When the tornado outbreak swept through the two states they left a path of destruction miles and miles wide, killing over 180 people. Houses were flattened, and 18 wheel trucks were tossed across roads and onto fields like they were toys. Mississippi is now dealing with rising waters on the Mississippi River. The city of Vicksburg is partially under water with the crest not scheduled for another week. Houses are covered in water, and folks have lost everything. This has been one of the worst natural disasters in the states history.
8CN has been raising money to help the people impacted by these events. When former welterweight world champion Antonio Margarito found out about what was going on here, he stepped up. Say what you want about Tony Margarito, but because of this man’s generosity people that otherwise wouldn’t have a warm meal and some clean clothes to wear, now do. Team Margarito live thousands of miles from this part of the country, yet they stepped up and reached a helping hand out for some people that have lost everything.
There has been plenty said about the guy and the hand wraps situation. I’m not here to judge the him, nor will I. I know this much, if people are going to blast him for an alleged hand-wrap situation then people should also praise him for his heart as well. For the folks that had their loved ones killed, and houses destroyed, they could care less about a boxing hand-wrap at this time. All they care about is a warm meal, a roof over their head, and a time to mourn their dead loved ones.
I do not water down the seriousness of illegal hand-wraps, I just want to point out that everyone in life makes mistakes. Life is all about learning from mistakes and being a better person going forward.
