WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan and strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza didn’t part on the best of terms.
Ariza claimed at the time that Khan’s team broke into his hotel room and stole contracts in order not to have to pay him.
Khan’s team countered by claiming that Ariza forced Khan to sign documents hours before a fight and without their approval.
What resulted was a public slanging match between Ariza and Khan’s father that saw Khan himself say little, his team hire a new strength and conditioning expert and the public never really knowing the truth of the matter.

Now however it appears that the pair are close to resuming their once successful working relationship.
According to a report by Boxingscene’s Lem Satterfield, Khan, his father and Ariza met recently at the suggestion of Freddie Roach in hopes of working together again in the near future.
Regardless of Roach’s impact on the situation, the fact that Khan is keen to use Ariza’s services again are perhaps indicative of one of two things.
The first could be that harmony in he and Manny Pacquiao’s frequent shared training camps is strained by the fact that there are two strength and conditioning experts, one of whom presumably doesn’t get along too well with members of his team after their very public falling out.
The second could be that Khan was unhappy with his performance against formerly unbeaten challenger Paul McCloskey in Manchester last month, and perhaps attributes this to his new strength and conditioning regime and trainer Michael Vale.
While he won every round before a clash of heads ended the fight prematurely, Khan did seem to lack a little of the speed and snap he has come to be known for.
This of course could have been down to any number of factors including difficulties adjusting to the new diet he mentioned before the fight, taking McCloskey lightly, or even just a difficult weight cut due to the fact that he is still gaining muscle.
