Roach sees Gabi’s win

As expected, the respective trainers of protagonists Diosdado Gabi and Vic Darchinyan expressed confidence of gaining compelling victory this weekend in California.

Gabi’s trainer Freddie Roach, the man behind the superstardom of Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao, stated a monumental upset for his Davaoe?o ward.

“But Gabi is in great shape and I feel an upset. Jeff is a great trainer and I respect him. But we are coming to win and it will be exciting and I am sure both fighters are in great shape,” disclosed Roach.

On the other hand, former three-division champion Jeff Fenech believes Darchinyan will finally barge into the boxing limelight by scoring a convincing win against his Filipino foe.

“I am very, very confident I have the hardest punching flyweight in the world and I think Freddie has seen him spar down in the gym so he knows what they are in for,” said Fenech. Both trainers as well as Gabi and Darchinyan answered questions regarding their upcoming fight in a National Conference Call yesterday.

Both southpaw fighters, Darchinyan and Gabi collide in a 12-round title fight for the former’s International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) flyweight crowns.

The match, to be aired all over the Uni ted States thru Showtime’s “Shobox: New Generation” show and on local TV via Solar Sports Saturday morning (Manila time) will be held at the Chumash Resort and Casino in Sta. Ynez, California.

The fighters showed respect for each other by acknowledging their respective skills. Darchinyan said that he is good enough to score a victory and guarantees a knockout win this weekend “Gabi is a good fighter, but I am good,” said Darchinyan.
