There are strong indications that HBO or the possible opponents of Manny Pacquiao are getting progressively upset and won?t wait much longer for the Filipino champion and business manager Rod Nazario to fly to New York and finalize details of his next fight.
Manila Standard learned that promoter Murad Muhammad has been negotiating with Top Rank president Bob Arum, who handles both World Boxing Association/International Boxing Federation champion Juan Manuel Marquez and Ring Magazine ?Fighter of the Year? Paulie Ayala and they were zeroing in on a title fight against the former.
Arum himself said HBO had a May 22 date set aside for the title fight and the giant network was waiting for Team Pacquiao to sit down with Murad and discuss what happens should Pacquiao beat Marquez.
Arum said ?it?s a very, very attractive proposal providing he (Pacquiao) can beat Marquez.?
However, Standard also learned that HBO is not prepared to wait much longer on Pacquiao who was voted ?Fighter of the Year? on its worldwide Internet poll and also won the accolade for the ?Upset of the Year? for his devastating 11th-round TKO of legendary featherweight Marco Antonio Barrera.
