Most people on the block like Manny Pacquiao. His accomplishments inside of the boxing ring will go down in the history books, and rightfully so. Folks in The Philippines have enjoyed Manny’s success for many years now. The man has brought hope and pride to his nation. Pacquiao has earned the respect of many both inside of boxing and outside of it. He has crossed over into the entertainment world as well. He has released CD’s and he’s been in movies. All of this is great, but are the American boxing fans growing tired of all of this?
The Mayweathers have spent the last year or more implying that Pacquiao has been taking performance enhancing drugs and this is how he has been able to dominate in the heavier weight classes. A lot of people have dismissed these allegations, but not everyone has.
American boxing fans spent decades watching their fighters dominate in most divisions from lightweight on up to heavyweight. This has not been the case in recent years, and with the emergence of Pacquiao, American’s have watched another fighter not from here rise to the top. Some folks in the USA are feeling ?Pacman saturation.?

Many Americans are pulling for Shane Mosley to pull of the upset.
It’s not a matter of Americans disliking Pacquiao. Most Americans like Manny a lot, so it’s not a personal thing. Americans are just hoping that one of their own can pull off a great upset. Advertisement
Critics of Pacquiao say that although he has defeated much bigger opponents, most of them were slower and hand picked. Floyd Mayweather Jr has been accused of cherry picking his opponents, and now some of Pacquiao’s critics are saying that he is doing the same thing.
James Durby of Canton, MS has been following Shane Mosley’s career for many years. When I spoke with him about the May 7th fight, he had a point that he wanted to make, “Why hasn’t Pacquiao fought Shane Mosley a few years ago? Why wait now when Shane is clearly not as good as he once was? This Pacquiao guy cherry picks much worse than Floyd Mayweather ever has.”
The big fight is May 7th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Americans who are pulling for Mosley know that they have a big hill to climb. Pacquiao being the younger, faster, and more in his prime fighter will be a difficult task for Mosley. With that said, Americans are still holding onto hope, that perhaps, just perhaps, Mosley will rise up and shock the world.
