HOLLYWOOD?All bases have been covered, Manny Pacquiao is in tip-top shape and Freddie Roach believes they have done everything necessary to ensure victory in his title fight against Shane Mosley on May 7.
Still, they are leaving nothing to chance.
Pacquiao will hold his last sparring session Monday afternoon here before the door closes at the Wild Card Gym.
Roach wants to apply the final touch to an intense seven weeks of preparation that started in Baguio City and will culminate on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
Tapped to provide Pacquiao a semblance of Mosley-like competition are unbeaten welterweight Shawn Porter and veteran lightweight Ray Beltran Jr.
After four rounds of sparring, Pacquiao will proceed with his usual training regimen and exercises before leading Team Pacquiao to a 360-kilometer drive to Las Vegas.
Although the total rounds of sparring have yet to be divulged by Team Pacquiao, it?s certain that it will exceed the rounds he chalked against Antonio Margarito last November.
Pacquiao is likely to ride in his Navigator with wife Jinkee, with others following in a convoy that will include the special bus emblazoned with the likeness of Pacquiao.
Heeding Roach?s order for a complete day off, Pacquiao did not run nor exercise Sunday.
Later in the afternoon, a pray-over was held at Pacquiao?s unit at the gated Palazzo with members of Team Pacquiao and guests in attendance.
Roach said he?d heard reports that Team Mosley, particularly chief trainer Nazim Richardson, would complain about the hand wraps just to get into Manny?s head and disrupt his equilibrium.
?All I hear about is that they?re going to complain about the hand wraps,? Roach told Manila-based sportswriters. ?That?s what Nazim?s an expert at and try to get at Manny?s head. I won?t let that happen. I won?t allow that argument.?
Roach said he was certain they?re 100 percent legal and would make sure that ?there won?t be a b…..it in the (Mosley) dressing room.?
Mosley, of course, has experienced facing an opponent with loaded hand wraps in Margarito, whom he stopped in the ninth round anyway.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao will enter the ring against Mosley with rapper Rick Ross, according to Examiner.com on Friday. Ross is a former correctional officer and rival of 50 Cent, a close friend of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a consistent Pacquiao basher.
