The Manny Pacquiao/Shane Mosley promotion for their May 7 Las Vegas has been far from exciting. Very far indeed. Manny Pacquiao by all accounts has had the training camp of a lifetime. Great. His single is also coming out soon. Super.
Shane Mosley meanwhile despite all protestations on his behalf by Naazim Richardson has not been good for a quote either and is still seen as too old and too slow. One doth protest too much? Not at all on this occasion.
The lowest ebb of the promotional circus was today?s conference call where a five minute long academic discussion ensued on whether Manny Pacquiao?s fourth scheduled appearance on Jimmy Kimmel has now become a pre-fight ritual? Really?
The truth is that in most cases Manny Pacquiao promotional tours are inversely proportional in excitement to his actual fights. Manny is a very nice guy, clearly, the trouble is so is too Shane. People might not like Floyd Mayweather, but watching an episode of 24/7 featuring ?Pretty Boy? is pretty fun. Much more fun than watching an episode of Fight Camp 360 where we are told everything is going to plan.
Pacquiao?s fights? Great. Conference calls asking Shane Mosley whether he will be buying Manny?s single this week, not so much.
But as so often is the case in a Manny Pacquiao promotion, you can always rely on Freddie Roach for a good quote.

The fight will no doubt be exciting, even if the outcome may prove to be predictable. It?s just a shame that the promotion is turning out to be as predictable as some people see the fight being.
