Zab Judah grew up on the tough streets of Brooklyn, New York. He comes from a fight family, his dad a former world champion kick boxer, and his brothers are fighters as well. Judah on the way up used to run the streets. He did some things back then that today’s Zab Judah just wouldn’t do.
Just a few short years ago he had somewhat of a reputation as being a hard nose tough guy with a street mentality. I got to know Zab a little bit when he was promoted by Prize Fight Promotions in the Memphis, TN area. I always liked the guy. That tough guy mean streets attitude didn’t phase me, I saw through it.
About a year and a half ago I noticed a change. Little by little I noticed Judah go from mean street tough guy, to a more reserved polite person. When I say polite, it’s not like Zab was always rude to people, but he did have a swagger about him. This started to change about a year or so ago.
Today’s Zab Judah can be seen with a Bible in his hand. He’s turned his life over to Jesus Christ. He realized that he wasn’t in control of his life. Zab put God first in his life and today he is once again a world champion and he is a much happier person.
It’s nice to see a person turn their life around. Today’s Zab Judah is a God loving man. He has a beautiful family and his boxing career has been reignited.
It wasn’t too long ago when Zab was in the ring fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. The fight got ugly after a low blow was thrown. Both corners ended up in the ring, punching, grabbing, and shoving, the whole works.
Today’s Zab Judah? Something like that ain’t happening. Today’s Zab Judah instead of throwing dice on the streets like he used to, can be found in Church or with his kids. He’s a new man, and boxing is proud of him.
