MANNY Pacquiao could get what he wants for his next big fight after all.
Pacquiao, widely acclaimed as the universal featherweight boxing king, appears headed for a marquee US title bout in May against a rival he has been craving to beat.
This came after his promoter in the United States, Murad Muhammad, reportedly secured a fight date with giant network HBO.
Reports coming out of Boxingtalk’s Greg Leon indicate that the leading contender as Pacquiao’s foe is World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation featherweight ruler Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.
“I understand Murad got the date. He definitely has the date. They are currently in intense negotiations and I wouldn’t be surprised if an official announcement came soon,” an Inquirer source from the US indicated.
