MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut? One guy claims that he has tiger blood coursing through his veins.
The other guy seems fearful of, or at least disinterested, in taking a $50 million payday against Manny Pacquiao.
The former’s name is TV actor Charlie Sheen, the latter is Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr.
As for Pacman, I guess he has balut blood percolating in his bloodstream.
But I digress. My main point here is to report a rumor that was floating around ringside at the Vicious Victor Ortiz-Andre Berto HBO fight Saturday night.
Maybe I should label this more than a rumor because promoter Lou DiBella who is the front man for Mayweather shotcaller Al Haymon in handling Berto has told me and other scribes that the undefeated Mayweather is nearby and will attend the show.
“Floyd is around here, Floyd is coming to this fight,” DiBella just said.
Another source said 10 ringside tickets are being held at VIP will call in Mayweather’s name.
Soon after speaking to DiBella, I chatted briefly with Mayweather’s slick adviser, Al Haymon and with HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg.
“You know Floyd, he just might show up,” Haymon said. “But you never know…”
Haymon smiled brightly which I take as a positive sign that Floyd will be in the house.
“They say that Floyd may be coming,” Greenburg said. “We’ll see what happens if that happens.”
Greenburg said that a Mayweather ringside appearance would certainly be newsworthy.
Adding fuel to the story is the fact that Mayweather has spent recent days in New York, going to a Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden and hanging out with his rap star pal, Fifty Cent.
The rapper owns a mega mansion not far from here, a palatial house in the Hartford suburb of Farmington, formerly owned by Iron Mike Tyson.
If Mayweather shows up and with Sheen doing a show here Sunday night, I think both Hollywood and Las Vegas might be jealous.
Come to think of it, the verbal ramblings of both Sheen and Mayweather are almost equally bizarre.
I will report back as to whether Floyd actually shows his face and.or offers up and words of wisdom for us all.
