Recently a few on line websites, one legit, one a TMZ style gossip garbage site, reported that Roy Jones Jr was into the IRS for around 3 million dollars. A tax watch dog site out of Detroit was the 1st to report this news. Their scoop is partially true however this is no breaking news. This situation has been ongoing for years now. There’s a lot more to this story than what is being reported, and 8CN will update this when we are able to do so.
Another website, one that is infatuated with writing about Batman, Apes, Charlie Sheen, and Linsay Lohan, keeps reporting that Roy has brain damage. It’s amazing to me how hateful some people can be toward a man who’s given his life to boxing, to his fans, and to many folks in need. I don’t know why I am that surprised though, being that the writer of these so called brain damage reports used to have photos (in a belittling way) of kids with Down Syndrome on his myspace site. When you consider these facts, it shouldn’t surprise you what you read and see on his current site.
Roy wants to fight a little bit more before he hangs up the gloves, so be it. Why resort to misleading titles about brain damage, and stories about him being broke? Truth be told, Roy is financially fine.
Roy recently spoke to 8CN. He is scheduled to fight Denis Lebedev, a strong cruiserweight from Russia. Many boxing fans have been calling for Roy to retire, they are worried for Roy’s health. Roy admits that he is not the same fighter as what he used to be, but he still feels like he can compete with the best in boxing. 8CN recently asked Roy what his intentions are if he is defeated by Lebedev, ” If I lose, but its a close and exciting fight I would want a rematch. I he whoops my tail, then I’ll head to the house and call it a day, that would be a wrap.” Roy is speaking about retirement. 8CN was the first website where Roy Jones Jr mentions retirement.
The same few websites that feel compelled to go negative about Roy Jones also write how the man is destroying his legacy. Really? How can someone destroy their legacy, when their legacy has already been written? You can’t take away what this man has already accomplished in boxing. It doesn’t matter what Roy has done in his last few fights. His last few fights do not take away what he’s done for many years prior.
Roy Jones Jr laughs when he sees what certain people write. He considers the source, laughs, and moves on to the next piece of business for the day.
