MEXICAN fighter Armando Vasquez along with other foreign challengers in the upcoming Pinoy Pride 5: Battle of Champions scheduled April 9, 2011 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum, Bacolod City arrived at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Vasquez (18-5, 4 KOs) will be facing reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) minimumweight titleholder Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes (27-1-3, 15 KOs) in the Junior Flyweight division who eyes a possible duel against the winner between the Colombian Jesus Gelez and Mexican Ramoncito Garcia clash on April 30 in Mexico.
The Mexican fighter is presently staying at the Palmas del Mar Conference Resort Hotel. Other foreign fighters who will also be seeing action this weekend like James Mokoginta of Indonesia and Thailand?s Ngaotawang Sithsaithong are currently billeted at the Bacolod Pavillion Resort Hotel and Restaurant.
African Deo Njiku is scheduled to arrive today. He is scheduled to challenge WBO Asia Pacific Junior Welterweight champion Jason Pagara as Mokoginta set to clash against WBO Oriental champion Lorenzo Villanueva while Sithsaithong will take a shot at the Pan Asia Boxing Association Bantamweight crown against champion Roli Gasca.
The Pinoy Pride 5: Battle of Champions is presented by Ala Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports, supported by the Bacolod City Government and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
