Now I know why President Obama never released the photo of himself in the White House with Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao.
Obama was afraid of upsetting a big taxpayer, when he is in the mood, a guy named Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr.
Which reminds me, what’s worse, my fellow Americans, those who boo Santa Claus or those who cheer for the Infernal, I mean Internal Revenue Service?
Charles Manson has more fans than the federal goverment’s taxing authority, the IRS.
So that leaves most of us with mixed emotions when it comes to the not so stunning new flash, courtesy of The Detroit News, that Floyd Mayweather Jr., the U.S. boxer who says all patriotic Americans should support him against all foreign invaders named Manny Pacquiao, owes $3.4 million and counting to Uncle Sam for taxes from 2009.
Look at it this way, bean counters, Mayweather is actually trimming his tax liens with the IRS because had a $6.1 million tab owing from his 2008 taxes.
Or, to view it another way, if NBA betting freak Mayweather can win $34,000 on the next 100 Chicago Bulls games, then he will be able to pay off the IRS no problem.
Now $3.4 million may seem like a lot of dough to wage slaves like most of you reading this but, to myself and fellow rich cats like “Money” Mayweather, it’s peanuts. Advertisement
We tip the pool boy, the guy who mows the lawn and the milkman that kind of scratch.
I can’t reveal my source but I’m hearing Mayweather had a big bet on UConn to beat Kentucky by a one point.
Not to mention how the hoops genius also bet 50 “dimes” on Butler to beat back Virginia Commonwealth.
Any other boxing champion would be sweating it at this point, rushing to the gym and begging his handlers to line up a lucrative fight so he could satisfy those IRS bloodhounds on his trail.
But, to Mayweather, it’s all a lark.
He could raise $3.4 million in a flash and fully pay off those back taxes.
He could call his former promoter Bob Arum.
Arum would gladly lend Mayweather five for seven any day.
He may not be the pound for pound ring king since some time back in 2008 but, when it comes to tax liens and issues, Mayweather is the man.
Maybe the Manny could give him a loan.
As if Mayweather is not alrerady forever in Manny’s debt so to speak.
