In a few weeks’ time Roberto ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero will find himself in possibly the biggest test of his career when he goes up against former title challenger Michael Katsidis at the MGM Grand as the key undercard attraction to the April 9th Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales clash. Guerrero has won titles at 126 and 130 pounds but still plenty of proving to do at 135 and a victory over Katsidis would tell us a lot about him.
On this Friday afternoon Guerrero could be found inside the confines of the Pound 4 Pound Gym on the West side of Las Vegas as he engaged in some lively sparring. Guerrero’s dance partner was featherweight journeyman Manuel Sarabia and the Gilroy, California fighter controlled the action for the most part.

Bouncing on his toes, darting in and out, and throwing stinging combinations that ripped to the body and head, Guerrero looked very relaxed whether from a distance or in the trenches. Many are assuming that Guerrero will have a size disadvantage when going up against Katsidis but he is filling out into the lightweight class very well.
Guerrero started gaining some notoriety at a young age and it’s hard to believe he is only 27 years old as the Katsidis fight looms. He has been held back from his preparation in the past because he was spending so much time caring to his wife Casey, who had suffered from leukemia, and now finally can devote his full attention to training.
He will need all of his focus for Katsidis.
